Introduction

Whoever knew Franz K. Opitz, knows that he avoided everything loud and obtrusive, thus his paintings are characterized by his true sensitive nature.

Ich sass am Strande mit Entzücken
Das Meer en face, den Fels im Rücken
und manchmal sprang ein Fischlein schnelle
ganz aus dem Wasser silberhelle.

Die Sonne schien, das Fischlein sprang
hoch auf dem Fels die Amsel sang
und damit hat, und nicht vergebens
ein kleines Detail meines Lebens
sich ganz spontan und ungezielt
doch sehr poetisch abgespielt.
